EXCELLENT Based on 18 reviews Posted on GreenMVerified Great Book I really enjoyed this book and found it very clearly written, useful and entertaining. It takes you back to basics, has lots of amusing anecdotes, some useful tips and then encourages you through a learning plan to help build confidence in small easy steps. It's great value for money as you also get access to extra learning materials at no extra cost. I'm so glad I discovered this book and Anne Walsh and would highly recommend.Posted on LollySVerified Great read...for excel Anne has a great way if making excel fun -whether it be on one of her excel training courses or in a book. Hate Excel? is a great read. Not what you'd expect from an Excel expert. A lovely book for yourself or to give someone as a present. I've really enjoyed reading this and will definitely be passing it onto a work colleague.Posted on Ricardo SanchezVerified The book the Excel world needed Thoroughly enjoyed reading this as it allowed me to get a perspective of Excel I'd never seen before.I've been using Excel since I was 8 years old. So I've never felt daunted by it.This book however reminded me I'm not like everyone else. Some people see Excel as this wildly untameable complex beast reserved for accountants and data nerds. But when you start to break it down as Anne Walsh has done you realise that YOU CAN DO IT!Expertly written from a technical perspective but I also enjoyed many laugh out loud moments. This book is a must for anyone starting their Excel journey but also serves as a reminder for us Excel pros that approaching learning from a structured perspective will yield far better results.Click buy now... NOW!Posted on ClaireVerified Not just another Excel book If you're looking for a book full of formulae, lists of functions and pointers to the advanced capabilities of "Modern Excel" - then DON'T buy this book! Most Excel books are aimed at those people who are already pretty confident in Excel. This handy little book is for those who may have to use Excel at work, but are fearful of "breaking something" if they even try. In her unique, gentle way, Anne guides us along with her heroine "Spreadsheet Sheila", as she gradually uses her detective skills to progress from Nervous Novice to Excel Expert. The book itself is an amusing, light-hearted read - with excellent advice on how to approach any new area of learning (not just Excel). It has links to a wealth of resources to give you genuinely useful practical exercises (in Excel) and, if you follow this guided learning like Spreadsheet Sheila, you too will soon be embracing every opportunity to use Excel at work.Posted on PentasticVerified An effective and different approach to becoming proficient in Excel This is not a reference book, to me - it is a unique and engaging way to build solid foundations for working in Excel. Anne clearly explains why you would want to do each element, and what different functions do - which is invaluable. I've found in the past that simply searching through the thousands of video tutorials in YouTube rely on you knowing what something is called to find it - rather than from searching for how to solve a problem. Anne also points to a variety of other resources that are really helpful, including to my surprise a (time limited) offer for her 'Quick Start Excel' course online. If you find Excel challenging, but know it would be useful to be able to use it efficiently, I'd recommend you get this book and work through it.Posted on Joanna ForsytheVerified Fun learning - you will learn to love excel! If you’ve ever found yourself frustrated with Excel, this book is your perfect companion. From the table of contents to the conclusion, Anne’s humour shines through, making you feel at ease with each chapter of learning. The detective theme is a brilliant touch, immersing you into the world of Spreadsheet Sheila right from the start. This book is not just a guide; it’s a story where you can relate to the characters, with practical hints and tips woven throughout. You’ll find great resources, lovely famous quotes, and plenty of basics to try out. Anne encourages you to learn from colleagues who are familiar with Excel, making the learning process collaborative and fun. With its step-by-step guide, ‘Hate Excel’ will undoubtedly boost your confidence and comfort in using Excel. A must-read for anyone looking to master Excel with a smile!"Posted on Norma DVerified A fantastic tool to have at your fingertips Just started a course with Ann & Immediately bought this book to gain a greater understanding or try at least. Ann breaks it down perfectly & is so patient with the group. Her approach keeps you connected and takes the fear & myths out of excel. Fantastic tool to have access to and Ann is fantasticPosted on Emma WilliamsVerified Excel-lent from an author who loves cells and puns If you hate Excel you are in the right place and plenty of good company. Most of us have to use it. But most of us haven't been taught it. What doesn't help is nerd-splaining from Alex in IT. That just raises the fears and the impostor syndrome. We need someone to sit us down, understand the stories we tell ourselves about these little green cells and give us a simple, oh so simple, route forward. Anne, The Excel Lady, is that someone. This gem of a book is empathic, funny and downright practical. Anne understands the reluctant adult learner and I love her personification of The Work Spreadsheet. We follow our hero Sheila as she battles TWS. Spoiler: she wins because she has an Anne all of her own. With her help you will be pivoting the great green grid in next to no time, saving yourself hours in the process. But this book contains the roadmap to learning any new work skill, which in this ever changing world might be the ultimate lesson.Posted on Susannah SimmonsVerified This does more than teach you Excel... Having known Anne and her straightforward, engaging and witty communication style, for several years I knew this book was going to be extremely accessible for even the most scared of 'Spreadsheet Sheilas'. However this book does more than teach you how to use Excel. It takes you on a journey of self-discovery. You understand why your fear of learning something new exists, the path you need to go on to get past that fear and the kind of accountability and support you need to do it. This understanding applies to learning anything not just Excel and this knowledge and self-awareness will be worth way more than the price of this book.Posted on Julie CreffieldVerified I ahve never felt so seen lol I have never felt so seen. As someone who has actively avoided Excel for as long as I can remember, and covertly managed to hide my incompetence with it as a tool, this book helped me understand it's not my fault and that the shame and embarrassment I feel is widespread. I won't lie some of the terminology raised my heart rate a bit, but it felt a bit like exposure therapy to make my way through the chapters. Anne's passion and humour, and the storytelling narrative of this book makes it a great read...who would have thought hey?Verified by TrustindexTrustindex verified badge is the Universal Symbol of Trust.
