In this tutorial I am going to look at how to link worksheets together. Very often, data is kept on separate worksheets but then needs to be put together. In this example I am showing you the simplest way to do this. It assumes that all the data is in all the same  place and organised the same way. If this is NOT the case, you may need to think about using something like the Vlookup() function to link your data sets together.

Prepare your work area

Set up the worksheet so that all the sheets are visible. You don’t have to do this but it really does make your life easier. Note that in this demo I am doing it on ONE screen but if you have multiple monitors, you could drag a different worksheet to another screen.  Here is the file for you to practise on.

Viewing all the sheets at the same time
1 Using View – New Window, create a new window for each sheet e.g. in this case we will have 4 sheets – one for each salesperson and one for the summary
2 Look at the top of your screen and you should see Linking worksheets – 4
3 Using View – Arrange All – set up the worksheets so you can see them all.
4 Tick Windows of Active workbook
5 Choose Tiled
6 Click OK
7 Make sure there is a different worksheet in each window. You might have to click the tab at the bottom to do that for each one.

You can view the video here.

Linking the worksheets

In this tutorial I am going to show you how to set up a formula that links the four sheets together into the summary sheet.

One small point. If you want to just see one sheet, simply click on the Maximise  button in the top right hand corner of the window.

If you want to see them all again, click on View | Arrange All to view them again.  Here is the file again
