Well, it is that time of the year again. The start of a new year with all its hopes and possibilities. Some of the things I am hoping to do in 2026 are the following:

  • Renew my PowerBI certification – a lot of new features have come about since last year that I need to get up to speed on
  • Keep doing the weekly newsletters.
  • Keep on doing the best work I can.
  • Do the follow on comedy writing course with the Royal Conservatory of Scotland (May the Lord bless online training)
  • Watch 100 movies this year. That is 2 a week. You can see my list here. I used ChatGPT to help come up with a list – asking it to keep horror to a minimum (I HATE horror movies). This week I watched Bonnie and Clyde and My Cousin Vinny.
  • Work through the Artist’s Way.
  • Do a screenwriting course – also with the Royal Conservatory of Scotland. At this point I would describe my relationship with this sort of writing as in the “getting to know you, maybe having a coffee or two” phase rather than the “let’s get married” stage.
  • Hopefully my shoulder to heal – I managed to injure myself last May putting gravel on a path…yes, yes I know.. and it has been niggling at me despite visits to the physio and an MRI. It has given me a lot of additional sympathy for people who struggle with chronic pain.
  • Do an Eldest Daughter retreat in Findhorn Scotland in March (yes, I know we are bossy but you also know we get the job done). I had planned to attend one in March 2020 but we all know what happened then..
  • I will no longer be working with BookBoon from March so I am working to re-purpose/update some of the books and self-publish them under the Hate Excel? banner.
  • In May I plan to attend the Global Excel summit – in person which I am so looking forward to.

In more general terms, I want to do more around using AI with Excel. At this point, I don’t think Microsoft’s Co-Pilot is there yet but Chat-GPT has a lot of possibilities and Claude seems to be outperforming them all.

My theme for the year is “Look within” – rely more on my own guidance and intuition.

Also in a more mundane way, to check if I already have the resource that I need rather than buying another book or course….
