05 – Pivot table – Grouping my data by dates and in bins (grouping in quantities)

In this tutorial what I want to show you how to group your dates together. Excel usually does this automatically in later versions. It will look at your dates and group into days/months/quarters/years depending on your range of dates.  However in earlier versions this doesn’t always happen automatically so what you need to do is do a right click and group on the dates. You can then choose how you want to group your data

In the second scenario and again this is one of my Judge Judy scenarios (“Real cases, real people”) where I got asked this question in class. A participant wanted to know how to group quantities together rather than dates. We use grouping again for that.
